tugg nutts racing replicas and customs

Greetings and welcome to my NASCAR & Racing Replicas Website!  Here you will find pictures of all my Tribute/Fantasy Racing Replica builds and a little information about each one.  Welcome aboard and enjoy the views!

This first build is the flagship of the fleet and a tribute in honor of Mike4345, my modeling mentor and friend.  Mike is the basis for the inspiration behind all of the builds you will see here and one of the true gentlemen of this great hobby.

The previous set of  pictures shows one of my first Client projects/creations.  It's an Action 1/24th Scale 2009 Diecast Chevrolet Monte Carlo that was combined with a full body-wrap decal set created by custom decal manufacturer Stoney's Customs.  Since this particular scheme was never made into a diecast production car, they are very rare and indeed difficult to find.   The build represents the Jeff Gordon scheme used only once, at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2009.

This build is from 2011 and is a combination of the 1997 Revell/Monogram Chevrolet Monte Carlo Slab Side and the Yesterdays Wendell Scott/Howards Furniture decal sheet.  A tribute to one of the groundbreaking legends of NASCAR racing, Wendell Scott
1997 Revell/Monogram Pontiac Grand Prix & Fred Cady Decals as a tribute to Benny Parsons and Buddy Baker
Tribute/Fantasy build of Charlie Roberts/Sunny King Ford.  Revell/Monogram 2002 Ford Taurus and the Dave Van/Penngwen Hobbies decal sheet.
Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is...  Box stock 1997 Revell/Monogram Pontiac Grand Prix donor kit with the JNJ/Jimmy Means/Alka Seltzer sheet.  Stance lowered on all four points and contingency decals from the spares bin.   A fitting tribute in a simple but cool paint scheme...

Two Joe Weatherly Tribute/Fantasy builds from 2011...  First is a PL Cyclone Spoiler II and the second is a R/M '97 Pontaic Grand Prix.  Both are finished using the Yesterday's sheet from William at BSR.

Here we have another 2011 build, a R/M 2002 Ford Taurus and the Bobby Unser/Pepsi PowerSlide decals courtesy of Mikes Decals.  The only big mistake on this one is that the area I painted black should have been dark blue instead.
Two for the price of one...  Monogram 80's Thunderbird kits and the always great PowerSlide decals!  I just wanted to see what the old 'Birds looked like in the newer paint scheme, so here you go.
What to do with two R/M "Moon Eyes" Taurus donors?  Combine them with the Fonty Flock/Yesterdays decal sheet and some creative usage of Microscale black decal film to simulate old style fenders....
A double tribute to Tiny Lund using R/M 2005 Monte Carlo kits for donors and the PowerSlide sheet from Mikes Decals...  (I know, a shameless plug there but those PowerSlide decals are awesome!)

Inspired by the short track cars I watched race on the local tracks as a kid...this one is a restored glue bomb with scratchbuilt roll cage and bumpers/nerf bars.  Decals are from Ronnie Setzer at SMH racing.
Here are two 1964 Mercury Marauders from AMT/Ertl that were modified to resemble the modern Taurus cars of Elliott Sadler when he drove for the Wood Brothers.
In tribute to and memory of Tim Richmond, from 2011 are two builds representing cars he drove during the 1980's  The Folgers is a R/M Monte Carlo from 2005 and the Milwaukee Beer is a R/M Grand Prix from 1999.
Rusty goes short tracking!  Here is a "challenge buld" from Mike4345, He supplied the decals and I supplied the car.  It's a Model King re-release of their GTO Super Stocker using PowerSlide decals and AMT/Ertl NASCAR tires instead of the wide kit tires.
Below are some customs that I designed using a base car scheme and and overlay of a second scheme that is related to the original donor.  In the case of the Dale Sr/Jr National Guard/Army car below - you can see what both cars would look like if they were combined or melded together as one.  The work is somewhat tedious at first, but each car is completely unique  and due to the random nature of the design, it will never be duplicated exactly as seen.  Pretty cool stuff, eh?
